About Me

Ellie practicing bowen technique on a pinto horse

My name is Ellie
I started riding at the age of 10. Everyone said "its just a phase" - but it wasn't! I dabbled in a few disciplines, over the years, before finally settling on dressage. I have a particular interest in classical training, with focus on French Classical Dressage and The Academic Art of Riding (Bent Branderup, Denmark).

In addition, I'd come to find Positive Reinforcement training as valuable way of working with horses, especially those with trauma, fears, and misunderstandings.

In recent years, I became the owner of a handful of Newfoundland Ponies. Realizing the amazing qualities of this breed, I've also become an enthusiast and promoter of rare and heritage breeds.

How Did I Start

In high school, I told everyone I wanted to be an equine chiropractor.
I ended up in dog grooming, instead.
After 20 years in grooming, I finally decided that I wanted to work directly with horses - primarily in helping horses to feel their best.

I came about this realization after acquiring a Thoroughbred gelding off the track.
Bear looked and felt sound, but he just couldn't do what I was asking. With veterinary diagnostics, we found several issues, including kissing spines.

With this information, we can work toward helping him feel better, using bodywork and homework exercises.

I hope to be able to help others help their horses feel their best - in a team effort!
